Herons have always been a favorite subject of mine.  I don't know if it's their similarity to the crane and their elegance, or their almost dinosaur like appearance. To experience one of these magnificent creatures in the wild is truly a pleasure.

"Solomon"

Acrylic on Canvas

Lions are used globally to symbolize so many noble traits, and upon seeing one in person, it's evident why they are.

For me the Lion symbolizes not only strength, courage, power and nobility, but also great leadership. Leadership that comes with it Wisdom, Compassion, Joy and Love. Leadership not only amongst its pack, but leadership over oneself above all else.

Even King Solomon, said to be the wisest of men, could see where others could best take action or make changes, yet in his own life, he lacked execution of this wisdom.

This Lion is a reminder to me, that while wisdom is valuable, it is only of use to us if we take action.

I believe Hummingbirds to be one of the many wonders of the world around us. Somehow almost half bird and half bug yet every bit amazing! It's not often we get to enjoy one of these birds up-close so I chose to bring this one to life at four feet tall. Every bit of this bird is amazing and deserves to be admired as such!

Birds have been used as my art subjects for decades. My earliest drawings were herons and blue jays. I continue to admire birds in all their glory to this day. Could not resist painting one of the most glorious birds, the Peacock.

IMPRINT PROJECTS

What is an Imprint Project?

Imprint Projects are collaborative, interactive artworks where individuals leave their fingerprints on a shared canvas. Each print becomes part of a larger image, symbolizing both personal presence and collective creativity. Led by artist Benjamin Archibald, these projects turn a simple act—leaving a fingerprint—into a meaningful artistic contribution.

Why Imprint Projects?

The first Imprint Project was born from my desire to contribute a painting to a fundraiser auction, but I wanted the piece to carry real emotional and monetary value for the bidder. I envisioned a community united by purpose, painting together on one canvas to create something far more meaningful than a solo work. I knew that kind of collective energy could raise thousands, and I wanted to use that opportunity to inspire a sense of pride in the young participants.

My hope was that knowing their signature was on a piece of art that sold for a high price would plant a powerful seed, confidence, value, and creative worth. Logistically, though, having every child sign the canvas while others were painting wasn’t practical. That’s when the idea struck: fingerprints. Unique, expressive, and inherently theirs. Each child could apply paint with their own fingerprint, an individual mark of identity, creating a beautiful, symbolic signature within the work.

How Do They Work

I provide a fully guided experience, from design to completion. Participants of all ages are invited to leave their fingerprint on a pre-designed canvas, making it accessible and engaging for everyone. The final artwork becomes a lasting, meaningful display, perfect for commemorating an event, honoring a cause, or showcasing the spirit of a community.

These projects celebrate community, inclusion, and shared purpose. They highlight the beauty of individual identity while demonstrating the power of working together. Whether created at a school, fundraiser, festival, or corporate event, each Imprint Project serves as a visual reminder that when we all contribute, even in small ways, we create something truly impactful.

Meet Benjamin Archibald

Who I Am, and Why I Paint

I’m a visual artist based in Bristol, New Hampshire, and a father of three with a deep love for the natural world. The landscapes, wildlife, and quiet moments that surround me serve as constant sources of inspiration. Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to the creatures and environments around me, and I often weave them into my work as symbols of reflection, curiosity, and connection.

At the heart of my practice is a sense of freedom—an understanding that every painting is just part of the process. I see each piece as an opportunity to explore, to learn, and to play. As the artist Richard Gardner once said, “No painting is ever finished, they just stop in interesting places.” That perspective has shaped how I work. I never feel like a piece needs to be perfect or turn out exactly as I first imagined—because it won’t be my last. If a painting doesn’t land the way I hoped, I simply paint over it or set it aside and reach for a new canvas to move more colorful mud around again.

Art, for me, is driven by the question “What if?” It’s where I stay curious, push boundaries, and embrace imperfection. Whether I’m experimenting with a new material, shifting styles, or approaching a subject from a different angle, each painting is a piece of a larger creative conversation, an ongoing journey of discovery, both on the canvas and within myself.
